Skip Tracing a Mailing List
Skip tracing lets you enrich an existing mailing list with additional contact data - phone numbers, email addresses, names, and correct mailing addresses - using a data lookup service built into thanks.io.
This is useful when you have a list of property addresses (e.g., absentee owners) and want to also contact those owners by phone or email, or when you want to verify and correct mailing address data before sending.
Cost: $0.20 per successful lookup. Some matches require 2 lookups for best accuracy, bringing the cost to $0.40 per record.
How to skip trace a list
- In your thanks.io dashboard, open Mailing Lists in the sidebar.
- Open the mailing list you want to skip trace.
- Open the list's ⋮ menu and choose Append entire list.
- The Search phone & email for the whole list? confirmation explains that every recipient on the list who hasn't been searched yet is looked up at 20¢ per match, and states the most you can be charged for the list's size. Click Search the whole list to start, or Cancel.
The search runs in the background. Once complete, matched records have the new data added to their contact fields, shown by the contact icons on each row. Records with no match remain unchanged.
To search a single recipient instead, open the row's menu and choose Search phone & email. It's disabled once that recipient has been searched or already has both a phone and an email.
Skip tracing needs a card on file and a credit balance that isn't negative. Otherwise the confirmation explains why and links to Settings → Payment Method instead of running. You can also run the same search on a new upload: tick Search phone & email for every row in the CSV upload's Paid data lookups (optional). See CSV Upload & Format.
