Deleting and Restoring Lists

Deleting a mailing list removes it from the active Mailing Lists view along with any automated campaigns that were bound to it. The list is not erased right away - it is set aside and can be restored from the same page.

Deleting a list​

  1. Go to Mailing Lists in the left navigation.
  2. Open the list you want to delete.
  3. Use the list's Delete action.
  4. Confirm when prompted.

The list disappears from the active section. Any automated campaigns that were sending from this list are removed at the same time, which stops those automated sends.

caution

Automated campaigns bound to a list are removed with the list. This is intentional - restoring the list later does not bring the campaigns back, so mail does not silently resume. If the list was driving a campaign you may want to keep, note the campaign's setup before deleting.

Restoring a deleted list​

If any lists have been deleted in the current account (and current sub-account, when one is selected), a Show Deleted (N) button appears next to the sort control at the top of the Mailing Lists page. N is the number of deleted lists available to restore.

  1. Go to Mailing Lists.
  2. Click Show Deleted (N) at the top of the list.
  3. A Deleted Lists section appears beneath your active lists. Each row shows the list's name, type, recipient count, and the date it was deleted.
  4. Click Restore on the list you want back.

The list returns to the active section along with all of its recipients. It behaves exactly as it did before, and you can send to it, add recipients to it, or attach new campaigns to it.

What restore brings back - and what it doesn't​

Restoring a list brings back:

  • The list itself, in the active Mailing Lists section.
  • Every recipient the list had at the time it was deleted.

Restoring a list does not bring back:

  • Automated campaigns that were removed with the list. Those stay deleted. This is deliberate: reviving a campaign automatically would resume physical mail without you asking for it. If you need the campaign back, recreate it under Automated Campaigns. See Automated Campaigns Overview.

Search and filtering​

The search box at the top of the Mailing Lists page filters both the active section and the Deleted Lists section (when it is expanded). If you know part of a deleted list's name but not exactly which one it was, expand Show Deleted and type in the search box - matching deleted lists surface alongside matching active ones.

Sub-account scoping​

When you have a sub-account selected, the Deleted Lists section only shows deleted lists that belonged to that sub-account. Switch to a different sub-account (or clear the selection) to see deleted lists from a different scope. See Sub-account Scoping.

You can only see and restore lists you deleted yourself. Lists deleted by another user on your account are not shown.
