Data and Privacy

Your data on thanks.io​

thanks.io stores the following data on your behalf:

  • Account data - your name, email, and billing information.
  • Recipient data - names, addresses, custom fields for your mailing lists, and any contact details a recipient supplies themselves when claiming a gift card.
  • Order data - a history of all mailers sent, proofs, and delivery tracking.
  • API and activity logs - request logs, webhook events, and login history (Audit Log).

Recipient data​

Recipient data you upload is used solely to fulfill your mail orders. It is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing.

Recipients can also supply their own details: when the gift card redemption contact requirement is on, a recipient enters an email address or phone number to claim their card, and that detail is saved to your account against the order and the mailing list the card was mailed from. The claim page tells the recipient the details are used only to deliver the gift card and let you know it arrived.

If you also turn on Ask recipients to confirm it's okay to contact them, the claim page adds a required checkbox naming your company, and the recipient cannot claim the card without ticking it. The date and time they submitted the form with it ticked is saved on the order as their consent to be contacted, and the claim page drops the word "only" from its wording, since the recipient has just been asked for permission to contact them.   • You can export your recipient data at any time from Mailing Lists.
  • You can delete recipients individually or delete entire lists.
  • When you delete a mailing list, its recipients are set aside with the list and hidden from the active view. The list can be restored from the Mailing Lists page - see Deleting and Restoring Lists. For permanent deletion of a list and its recipients, contact support.

Suppression Lists​

If a recipient asks to be removed from your mailings, add them to a Suppression List - they will never receive mail from your account again, regardless of campaigns or future imports. See Suppression Lists.

Account deletion​

To close your account and request data deletion, contact at www.thanks.io. Outstanding orders will be fulfilled before account closure.
